Sungpyo

Hey there—I’m an art director, designer, and illustrator based in NYC, originally from Seoul and a graduate of SVA. I collaborate with brands and creatives to craft visuals that are clear, story-driven, and visually resonant.

My work has been featured at the Emmys, recognized by the ADC, and published in The New York Times— milestones that continue to shape my practice.

I’m drawn to design that feels effortless on the surface yet layered with intention underneath. Always curious about what’s next, I explore visual languages that are fresh, forward-looking, and human at their core.

Take a look at my work—and if it speaks to you, let’s connect and create something meaningful together.

Beyond Fentanyl
Show Graphics | Vice

Beyond Fentanyl was an investigative episode exploring the fentanyl crisis in America. I worked with Vice’s design team to build a graphic system rooted in afterimages—layered visuals, shifting colors, and optical distortions that mirrored the drug’s hallucinatory effects. The challenge was to craft a visceral, cinematic visual language that could carry the story’s urgency onto the screen.

My role focused on shaping this system into a cohesive identity, including the title sequence and infographics, amplifying the story’s impact. The episode was honored with a News & Documentary Emmy Award.
