Sungpyo

Hey there—I’m an art director, designer, and illustrator based in NYC, originally from Seoul and a graduate of SVA. I collaborate with brands and creatives to craft visuals that are clear, story-driven, and visually resonant.

My work has been featured at the Emmys, recognized by the ADC, and published in The New York Times— milestones that continue to shape my practice.

I’m drawn to design that feels effortless on the surface yet layered with intention underneath. Always curious about what’s next, I explore visual languages that are fresh, forward-looking, and human at their core.

Take a look at my work—and if it speaks to you, let’s connect and create something meaningful together.

Book Cover Design

I designed and illustrated covers across fiction, nonfiction, and memoir—ranging from typographic treatments to conceptual imagery.

These projects, created for publishers including Farrar, Straus and Giroux, Simon & Schuster, Theatre Communications Group, and Penguin Random House, translated literary voices into resonant visuals while balancing editorial direction with experimentation.

Among them, Underbug was recognized by The New York Times as one of the year’s best book covers.
